The news flow regarding the semiconductor industry, espcially the additional ban on chip sales to China pushed impacted option volume in this industry. Nvidia (NVDA) had the fourth highest option volume traded yesterday.
A total of 1,517,385 contracts traded placed NVDA in third place only behind the index ETFs representing the S&P 500 (SPY and SPX) and NASDAQ (QQQ). Interestingly, this volume represented about half of the total option open interest for NVDA.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was at the seventh highest in terms of option volume at 496,643 and this was about a sixth of total option open interest. Intel (INTC) was ranked 50 in terms of option volume at 95,860 or about 3% of the total option open interest.
